This museum recounts the seafarers’ life on the St. Lawrence River, and the Mont-Saint- Louis schooner is there for visitors to explore from helm to wheelhouse. The museum collection includes many period nautical pieces.

LES MOULINS DE L’ISLE-AUX-COUDRES

The only site of its kind in Canada, this museum houses a fully functional watermill (1825) and windmill (1836), as well as a miller’s residence. Tradition lives on with the authentic millstones used to grind wheat and buckwheat into flour, which visitors may purchase on the premises. Fresh goods baked in an old-fashioned clay oven are also available. Guided & self-guided tours. A multifunctional Welcome Center features a pop art exhibit by islander Alfred Desgagnés, a mid-Lenten mask exhibit, as well as a media room that gives insight into the habits and customs of the islanders. Science workshops called Les Moulins à science are available upon reservation. Souvenir shop.
